Valentino Rossi survived a late tussle with two-time reigning world champion Marc Marquez to win the Grand Prix of Argentina on Sunday.
Repsol Honda rider Marquez started in pole position at the Autodromo Termas de Rio Hondo and built up a lead of four seconds at one point, but tyre issues allowed Rossi to pass him on the penultimate lap.
Marquez then clipped the back of Rossi's bike and crashed out of the race to enable the Movistar Yamaha rider to take the chequered flag in a time of 41 minutes 35.644 seconds - 5.685 secs ahead of the rest of the field.
Rossi, who won the season-opening race in Qatar before finishing third in the Americas MotoGP last weekend, leads the championship standings by six points ahead of Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso, who was second in Buenos Aires.
Great Britain's Cal Crutchlow steered his Honda home in third, while Andrea Iannone (Ducati) was fourth and Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha) fifth.
Bradley Smith (Monster Yamaha Tech) finished sixth while fellow Briton Scott Redding (Marc VDS) came home in ninth position.
