Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo went fastest in Friday practice for this weekend's Czech Republic Grand Prix.
The Spaniard is just nine points behind team-mate and championship leader Valentino Rossi and his time of one minute 56.499 seconds was enough to set the pace at a hot Brno.
Rossi crashed in the second practice session after appearing to slip on oil left over by Dani Pedrosa's own accident and could only go sixth quickest - more than half a second down on Lorenzo.
Reigning champion Marc Marquez crashed in both sessions but still managed to set the second-fastest time as the Ducati pair of Andrea Iannone and Andrea Dovizioso went third and fifth - with the Honda of Pedrosa sandwiched in-between.
The Monster Yamahas of Pol Espargaro and Bradley Smith were seventh and eighth, respectively as Aleix Espargaro and Cal Crutchlow rounded out the top 10.
